Late 2011-Early 2012-Transitioning
(satin press pin curl hairstyle)
Wow I remember when I first gave up on relaxers, it was August, 2011. I transitioned for about 6 months and then on February 26, 2012, Senior in College, I Chopped my hair off! It was a such a liberating experience. Although  I wasn't use to the length, texture and style I wore wigs. I didn't really know what to do with my hair and I wasn't use to it being so short. I kind of wasn't comfortable with my hair the 1st year.  During that time, although I wasn't wear my hair out, YouTube was my best friend. I was studying, researching and getting to know my hair. During my first year I wore a lot of protective styles. I wore it out a few times, no pictures sorry, but mostly it was covered by wigs and tracks. :(. I wasn't that big in taking so many pictures with my natural hair back then either. I was learning to love my hair. It wasn't until after I hit my year mark that I started to ware it out more and was more comfortable. I liked my hair before. But by me learning my hair I was beginning to fall in love with it. I am now head over heels in love with my hair.
2013- 1 year and 10 months

2014- 2 years
2014-2 years and a month

2014-dyed hair
In the beginning phase, I learned so much from different vloggers. For me I didn't only follow people with similar hair textures to mines. I followed people with many different hair textures. I did that because I learned techniques, different styles and regimens that I could apply to my own hair.

-I colored my hair the summer of my 2 years, 2014.

2015- 3 years
It's a very long journey and there are going to be times when you want to relax your hair. Learn your hair and fall in love with it. Be patient and do not compare your hair to others. This journey is not easy nor is it for the weak. You have to really want to go natural. I went natural because I had to or I would lose my hair. Relaxers were breaking my hair off and my hair was in a very fragile state when it was relaxed. So I went natural because I had to and I wanted to. This wasn't my first attempt either. I tried transition in 2010 for about 3 months.
2010-1st attempt at transitioning to being natural.(Brazilian Blowout)
I was very inexperience and I did not know about YouTube so I gave up it was hard and I wasn't ready nor knowledgeable. So take your time and make sure you are ready and going natural for the right reasons. To me it is worth it. I'm in it for the long haul. What about you?
